Fall 2012 Concert Schedule

The GC Music Program is pleased to announce the Fall 2012 concert schedule! ALL concerts below are free and open to the public. ALL events start at 7:00 PM and are held in Cruce Stark Auditorium, on the GC main campus. We would love to see you there! 

GC Chamber Band, November 12

The GC Chamber Band, under the direction of Mr. Jeremy Stones, is a unique ensemble presenting the sounds and styles of a concert band, but with the intimacy of a small, chamber group.  The personnel and the music vary from semester to semester, with each concert showcasing a blend of classical literature with fun, contemporary arrangements.

GC Brass, Woodwind, and Drumset Studios, November 26

GC Music presents a joint recital featuring performances from students taking private lessons in drum set, brass, or woodwind instruments. Mr. Jeremy Stones teaches applied brass, and his studio is merged with those of two new instructors, each of whom joined the GC Music faculty this semester: Ms. Inna Staneva is our woodwind instructor, and Mr. John O’Neal teaches drum set. Each instructor will also perform. 

GC Singers and Voice Studio, November 27

The GC Singers choir will perform once again in concert, under the direction of Ms. Amye Derix. As always, the ensemble presents an enjoyable variety of music from classical and contemporary choral literature. In addition, the concert will feature performances by students currently taking private lessons in Ms. Derix’s voice studio. Ms. Derix will also perform.

GC Guitar Ensemble and Guitar Studio, November 29

The GC Guitar Ensemble is made up of several student guitarists. They will perform in concert, under the direction of Dr. David Tercero. The event will also feature performances by students taking private lessons from Dr. Tercero, as well as a performance by the instructor himself.

GC Strings Studio, November 30

Now in its second year, the studio of Dr. Fred Freeman will  present a recital of his talented string students. The event will include an entertaining mix of solo performances along with collaborative pieces. Dr. Freeman will also perform.

Jazz Piano Studio, December 3

The students taking jazz piano lessons in the studio of Mr. James Dering will perform in this fun event. Each student will play with a bassist and drummer, creating a jazz trio atmosphere. Mr. Dering will also perform.

GC Jazz Combo, December 6

The GC Jazz Combo is a unique jazz ensemble featuring piano, guitar, bass, and cornet. This talented group ranges from light-and-intimate to full-and-upbeat jazz, including music in swing, blues, bebop, funk, and latin styles. The event, featuring special guests, is sure to be a treat for the audience. Mr. James Dering directs.

Classical Piano Studio, December 11

Each semester, the students of Mrs. Tatiana Bays present a delightful recital of classical piano music, played by students in her private studio. The music, ranging in style and complexity, is sure to enrich and entertain the audience. The event will also feature a performance by Mrs. Bays.
