Four RBI Day for Gottacker Leads Grayson College Past New Mexico Junior College


Mark Gottacker drove in four on three hits to lead Grayson College past New Mexico Junior College 15-2 on Friday, Feb. 9. Gottacker drove in runs on a home run in the second and a single in the seventh.

An early lead helped propel Grayson College to victory. Grayson College scored on a double by Andrew Miller in the first inning, a double by Seth Mullis in the second inning, a double by Westyn Swenson in the second inning, and a home run by Mark Gottacker in the second inning.

Grayson College captured the lead in the first inning. With one out in the first inning Miller drove in one run when he doubled.Grayson College scored seven runs in the seventh inning.Grayson College's big inning was driven by a single by Wes Hutchinson, a single by Gottacker, a single by Braydon Webb, a single by Miller, and a home run by Bennett Oberstein.

Tyler Ivey earned the win for Grayson College. He went six innings, allowing two runs, six hits, and striking out eight. Landon Staats threw two innings, as two relievers helped Grayson College finish off the victory. A Montoya took the loss for New Mexico Junior College. He pitched two innings, giving up six runs, five hits, and striking out three.

Home runs for Grayson College came when Mullis homered in the fifth inning, Gottacker homered in the second inning, and Oberstein homered in the seventh inning.

Grayson College collected 17 hits. Gottacker, Miller, Mullis, Hutchinson, and Webb each collected multiple hits for Grayson College. Mullis, Miller, and Gottacker.

New Mexico Junior College had nine hits in the game. E Vasquez, G Johnson, and W Negroneach collected multiple hits for New Mexico Junior College.
