Applications Software Specialist

Today’s office requires individuals who are able to take full advantage of the technology available in order to get the job done quickly and accurately.  The development and use of computers in the office has created a need for individuals who are proficient in areas beyond the traditional office skills.

Students entering this program need to have basic computer and keyboarding skills upon entry. This certificate program that includes higher level computer skills, business English and communications, accounting, and administrative systems courses. Grayson College’s program allows students, if desired, to earn at least one certificate while working toward the associate degree in Office and Computer Technology.

Many of these courses may also be taken for non-credit through the GC Continuing Education division.


Course Requirements

  • Grayson College requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some of the courses require prerequisites. Refer to the GC catalog for specific information.
  • The Certificate is TSI waived.
  • The Associate of Applied Science Degree requires successful completion of the TSI requirements.

Capstone Experience

To earn a certificate in this program, all students must successfully complete the Professional Development (POFT 1313) course during the last semester of graduation.

Financial Aid & Scholarships

Financial aid is available to eligible students enrolled in this program, including loans, grants, scholarships and work study jobs. All students should visit the Paying for College page for valuable information and resources. All students seeking financial aid must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) over the internet at (GC’s school code in Step Six is 003570) and a GC Application for Financial Aid available on the GC website on the Paying for College page. All applications should be filed by March 31st to ensure full consideration.

The Grayson College Foundation awards thousands of scholarship dollars to deserving students every year. Once you complete the FAFSA process, consider submitting an application for a scholarship.
