Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management

Train for new hot careers in a growing field!

Besides small classes and caring professors, students are choosing the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program at Grayson College for  many reasons:

  • GC offers the only Culinary Arts school within 50 miles of the Sherman-Denison, Texas, area.

  • Students learn skills in a new facility that features state-of-the-art kitchens and restaurant equipment

  • Students gain real-world experience in the unique on-site fine dining restaurant, Six Ninety One

  • Students in either the Hospitality Management or Culinary Arts programs are cross-trained to meet the demands of the growing industry.

  • With tuition costs at low community college prices, training is very affordable.

Persons who are the most successful in these careers will have quality training that hones their skills, along with some specific personality characteristics or traits. Professionals in both the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management field will find that the following traits enhance their genuine interest in the work:

  • Attention to detail
  • Dedication and stamina; a solid work ethic (these careers often demand 6+ hours per week)
  • Logic and reasoning skills; “common sense”
  • Enjoy dealing with the public; work well with others
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Possess or willingness to learn leadership skills. Both careers require the ability to lead and follow.

Culinary Arts Mission Statement

The mission of Grayson College’s Culinary Arts program is to provide an environment for students to acquire the skills, knowledge, creativity and ethical values to increases their success in the rapidly changing, culturally diverse culinary and restaurant professions. The program also strives to provide practical experience in the culinary field by being involved in community service and the industry to promote confidence and personal enrichment.
