Programs and Majors

Grayson College offers four types of associate degrees, as well as vocational training certificates and non-credit training options. A college "major" is defined as a subject area of specialization consisting of selected courses within a field of study. Explore the career fields listed below to learn more about the path to achieve your educational goals. Not sure which path to choose? • AS/AA = Associate of Science and Associate of Arts: Designed for students who are transferring to a four-year college or university.

  • AAS = Associate of Applied Science: Designed for students to earn an associate’s degree and enter into the workforce. Many universities are now offering a bachelor’s degree in Applied Sciences (BAAS).

  • AAT = Associate of Arts in Teaching: Designed for students who wish to complete a four-year degree in education or teaching.

  • C = Certificate of Completion: Generally one year in length, and designed to provide students with workforce skills. Some programs offer certificates that can be 'stacked' together for higher, more specialized skills.

  • NC = Non-credit 'Mirror' Courses: Designed to provide students who are not working toward a degree or certificate with training and knowledge. Students attend the same class as ‘credit’ students with the exact same class work and expectations, but are awarded a grade of S (satisfactory) or U (unsatisfactory) upon completion. Not all courses within the program are eligible for “mirror” enrollment. Enrollment is through the Center for Workplace Learning.

  • CE = Continuing Education: Designed to provide specialized vocational training through short-term courses on a flexible schedule. Personal enrichment and recreational classes are also available each semester. Enrollment is through the Center for Workplace Learning.
