A Career That Makes a Difference!
Today an exciting, challenging career awaits both men and women who want a career
that truly makes a difference! That career is Law Enforcement. More than a badge
and a gun, today's law enforcement officer represents a profession on the cutting
edge of technology and service. In fact, in view of today's terrorism threats and
increasing crime rate, law enforcement may just be the most important career in
America today!
Career Outlook
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics, 12/2007: "Job opportunities in most local police departments will be excellent for qualified
individuals, while competition is expected for jobs in State and Federal agencies.
Average employment growth is expected. Employment of police and detectives is expected
to grow 11 percent over the 2006-16 decade, a more security-conscious society and
population growth will contribute to the increasing demand for police services.
Overall opportunities in local police departments will be excellent for individuals
who meet the psychological, personal, and physical qualifications. In addition to
openings from employment growth, many openings will be created by the need to replace
workers who retire and those who leave local agencies for Federal jobs and private
sector security jobs."
The Texoma Regional Police Academy (TRPA) at Grayson College offers a 20
week (864 hours) daytime program designed to prepare students for a very exciting,
challenging, and rewarding career in law enforcement. TRPA also offers a 43 week

exam are licensed to seek appointment in state and local law enforcement agencies,
throughout Texas, as a full time peace officer or reserve officer.
Students in TRPA are exposed to a broad array of training including both classroom
lecture, and hands-on skill training (driver training, firearms, etc.) The TRPA
