Emergency Medical Services Dual Credit
SUMMARY
Upon completion of the Grayson College Dual Credit Emergency Medical Technician Program, students will be prepared for employment as an EMT. They can also continue on to higher certification levels as a Paramedic or complete the AAS degree in Paramedicine.

CURRICULUM
The hybrid curriculum is provided by Grayson College and consists of materials located in the Canvas Learning Management System and is complemented by hands-on lab activities on a Grayson College Campus (Main or South).
SCHEDULE
Students complete online coursework, hands-on lab skills practice and 88 clinical hours including time on an ambulance and in healthcare settings. The EMT curriculum offers an innovative skills lab concept. Students will register for their mandatory in class sessions and skills labs at either the Denison or Van Alstyne campus. In person sessions will be offered at:
- Denison campus: Tuesday/Thursday 12:30-3pm
- Van Alstyne campus: Monday/Wednesday 9-11:30am
This flexibility allows students to participate in other activities such as athletics, band, or academic teams. This schedule will remain the same across Fall and Spring.
FACILITY
Classes are held online and in a face-to-face format at the Denison or Van Alstyne campuses.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENT
State law requires that students under the age of 22 who will attend classes on a GC campus must provide documentation of a meningococcal vaccination within the previous 5 years or a conscientious objection waiver. Students will not be enrolled without this documentation.

FINANCIAL AID
Full or partial tuition waivers are available for dual credit students on free or reduced lunch programs. The Firefighter Exemption Program is available to volunteer firefighters who hold a Firefighter II certification with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
