Meet your Advisor
Advising and Success Coaching
Academic advising and success coaching is available on a walk-in basis by appointment. The success coach for your major is listed in your MyViking portal and you can schedule an appointment with your success coach through the portal. Advisors provide a full array of services ranging from degree planning to course registration. Students may wish to see a success coach to discuss topics such as:
- Degree and career planning
- Transfer planning
- Information about Pathways at Grayson College
- Assistance with course selection
- Schedule changes and withdrawals
- Graduation requirements
- College placement test referrals
Appointments
Please follow the instructions below to schedule an appointment with your Success Coach. Following these steps will help you to easily make an appointment that best fits your schedule.
- Log into MyViking
- Select “Student Planner”
- Select “My Plan” in the Home drop down menu
- Click on your Success Coach’s name on the right side of the page and then click “schedule appointment”
Note: You must be an admitted student before success coaches can assist you with course registration. If you are not sure of your admission status, please contact admissions@grayson.edu prior to scheduling an appointment.

Online advising is available for distance learning students. Contact the advisor listed for your pathway in your MyViking Student Portal for assistance.
Faculty advising specific to your degree and major
GC professors advise students majoring in their program of study. By contacting your instructional department or division, you can begin receiving expert guidance to select classes, earn your degree, and enter your chosen career field.
Educational Opportunity Center
The EOC is designed to provide information regarding financial and academic assistance to qualified adults who desire to pursue a program of postsecondary education. EOC also provides assistance to individuals in applying for admission to institutions that offer programs of postsecondary education, including assistance in preparing necessary applications for use by admissions and financial aid officers.
