Description

Join us on your journey to becoming a Certified EKG Technician, a role that plays a vital part in the healthcare industry.

The EKG Technician course presents the student with knowledge of the heart’s anatomy, physiology, function, how it produces electricity, and how one records this electricity with an EKG / ECG machine and/or a telemetry monitor. Students must enroll in ECRD 1011 (64 classroom hours). Note: Healthcare program requirements must be met prior to enrollment.

The course explores how to interpret EKG changes in commonly seen diseases, and important heart rhythm disturbances. This course introduces the student to the skills required for employment in an EKG stress testing laboratory, as well as an ambulatory EKG monitoring center.

Upon successful completion of this course the student should be prepared to take the National Healthcare Association (NHA) Certified EKG Technician (CET) examination. Included in the cost of this course is one attempt at the CET examination, which will be scheduled by the instructor and is non-refundable and non-transferable. The textbook and study guide, and practice exams are included with the tuition. Additional funding sources may exist for qualified students.

Students must pay for SurScan background & drug screening prior to enrollment ($139)

In-Series Vaccinations: Students who are in the process of completing a vaccination series (e.g., have one dose but have not completed the second) are considered "in series." These students must schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider to receive the missing vaccinations. They will be allowed to attend clinicals while completing their series.
