Endowed Faculty Chairs
In 2003, to celebrate Grayson College’s 40th Anniversary, the Grayson College Foundation initiated an Endowed Chairs for Teaching Excellence Program. Based on the premise that quality of instruction is fundamental to the mission of Grayson College, this program recognizes, promotes, and rewards outstanding teaching and provides a means for distinguished faculty to further contribute toward the excellence of the College. Endowed chairs support instruction and study, thereby enhancing teaching and learning throughout the College.
Funding for an Endowed Chair begins with a minimum commitment of $25,000. There is no maximum. Investment earnings allow an annual payout from the endowment. The Endowed Chair carries the name selected by the donor.
The purpose of the Endowed Chairs for Teaching Excellence Program is to recognize and encourage excellence in teaching, enhance the quality of instruction available to students, and promote awareness throughout the College and community that outstanding teaching is highly valued at Grayson College. The goal of the Foundation is to establish Endowed Chairs in various disciplines. Endowed chairs are crucial for providing excellence in teaching and learning. They also assist in attracting and retaining excellent faculty. Endowed chairs serve as an effective recruitment tool for top-notch faculty, because their colleagues typically hold those faculty members who administer them in high esteem.
The Endowed Chairs for Teaching Excellence Program will contribute to the reputation and quality of the College and its academic and technical programs. Building our endowment for chairs will not only attract a high-quality group of faculty and students, but the academic reputation of the College will follow. A program such as this says to the rest of the world that people with a like purpose and vision want to invest in Grayson College.
