GC Opens Food Pantry
Grayson College recently announced the opening of its Food Pantry. The Pantry is open to all students. The Pantry is located on the 2nd floor of the Life Center, just outside the Veteran Services Office. The hours of operation will be 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday. A ribbon cutting to celebrate the official opening is scheduled for November 21 at 9:00 am.
Grab and go items for breakfast and/or lunch are provided with additional options to be made available in the future. A microwave is available for student use. Students using the grab and go service are asked to sign in to help the College track usage and better determine campus need and expansion opportunities.
In addition to the grab and go option, non-perishables are provided through a partnership between Phi Theta Kappa and St. Luke’s Parish. A bag of food that feeds a family of four for two days can be provided for any student in need. A food bag can be picked up from any of the following offices - Professor Mary Linder (Life Center), Counseling & Advising (Student Affairs Building), Financial Aid (SAB), and VP of Student Affairs, Dr. Regina Organ (Student Success Center).
“It is our goal to assist any GC student who might be suffering from food insecurity,” Dr. Organ said. “We look forward to connecting students with other social services, both on- and off-campus. We know that food insecurity can be a barrier to success and we are excited to help remove this barrier.”
Donations for single serve food items and toiletries can be delivered to Dr. Organ, who can be contacted for additional information.
