Board seeks appointment after Richardson resigns
Grayson College Board of Trustees member Rad Richardson stepped down during the regularly scheduled board meeting Tuesday. Richardson played a pivotal role in the growth of the college during his six years on the board. During his time, the college has added several new buildings, brought back its basketball program and launched the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
“I’m so grateful to have worked with Rad on the Board of Trustees,” GC President Dr. Jeremy McMillen said. “His thoughtful approach and kind nature lead many of our discussions down a path of inquiry and intentionality toward our mission of student success.”
A Sherman resident, Richardson, now retired, was involved with the Sherman Chamber of Commerce and Sherman Economic Development Corporation as an advocate for regional growth and economic development during his career. Richardson graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1966 with a degree in personnel management. His wife Marty is a nursing professor at GC.
“It has been a great experience to be in there and see young people being educated,” Richardson said of his time on the board. “It was exciting to work with the state to get the BSN program going. I know Mrs. Moses that originally started the program. It’s great to see students coming out of college and being able to go to work.”
