In Memoriam: Jeanne Williams
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanne Williams. She passed away on Monday, April 14. Jeanne was a valued member of the Viking Family and will be deeply missed.
Jeanne dedicated 26 years of service to Grayson College, leaving a lasting impact on the community. Her journey at the College began in 1994 when she began as a part-time work study student and data entry specialist. She served in this role until 1997 before transitioning to full-time employment.
Over the years, Jeanne held several key positions at Grayson College, demonstrating her commitment and versatility. Professionally, Jeanne served as an Admissions Specialist for six years before transitioning into the role of Registration Report Specialist, a role she held for three years. It was through her work in reporting she found her passion. Jeanne served as the State Reporting Specialist for 12 years before advancing to the Record Specialist II role, where she served for six years.
Jeanne will be fondly remembered for her unfailing kindness, her welcoming smile and her unwavering willingness to assist others. Her legacy at Grayson College is defined by her steadfast service, genuine compassion and strong dedication to the College community. Jeanne's contributions to Grayson College extended beyond her job titles. She created a warm and supportive environment for students and colleagues alike.
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Jeanne, a valued member of our team whose dedication, kindness and spirit touched everyone who had the privilege to work alongside her,” said Grayson College President Dr. Jeremy McMillen. “Her steadfast dedication to helping students thrive, her passion for education and the genuine care she showed to everyone she met have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire us all.”
Jeanne's memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Her example of service and dedication will continue to inspire the Grayson College community.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Jeanne Williams Endowed Scholarship for Nursing at Grayson College. Donations can be made through the Grayson College Foundation Donation Form.
