Radiologic Technology


Welcome to Grayson College’s Radiologic Technology Program!

The GC Radiologic Technology Program is designed to prepare students for careers as radiologic technologists. This program is twenty-two months in duration (after completing the necessary perquisites). During this time, students will receive didactic experiences at Grayson College, combined with clinical experiences at the affiliated hospitals and clinical sites. Students will earn an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Radiologic Technology after satisfactorily completing the appropriate curriculum. Upon completion of all the GC radiology program requirements, students may be eligible to take the national certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

About the Program

  • Program Philosophy

    The Radiologic Technology Faculty shares the mission and values of Grayson College. It was designed with the philosophy that the most effective way to prepare graduates to enter the radiologic sciences profession is a progression from theory in the classroom to guided practice in the laboratory to a “real-world” application in the clinical environment. We are committed to contributing to the profession of radiography through teaching and service. We recognize that radiologic technology students are unique, come from diverse backgrounds, and have individual learning needs.

    Program Mission

    The Associates of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology program at Grayson College uses a multifaceted approach to provide a quality education that will prepare students to successfully pass the national American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) board exam and become competent and compassionate radiologic technologists who demonstrate both personal and professional growth as part of a dynamic health care team.

  • Grayson College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) and is currently seeking programmatic accreditation from the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). The GC Radiologic Technology Program is recognized by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • The JRCERT makes available the program effectiveness data (credentialing examination pass rate, job placement rate, and program completion rate) of all its accredited programs on an annual basis.  This information is self-reported by the accredited programs via the annual report.
  • This handbook is prepared for students admitted to the Radiologic Technology Program and contains specific information about the program. For general policies, see the GC student handbook and catalog. The information in this handbook is current when it is posted. However, the handbook may be revised or amended upon written notification to the student. No revision or amendment will be retroactive but will become effective upon the date of student notification. The program director of the Radiologic Technology Program will make the final interpretation of program policies and procedures.
  • A formalized written assessment plan allows the Radiologic Technology Program to gather useful data to measure the goals and student learning outcomes to facilitate program improvement. Analysis of student learning outcome data allows the program to determine if it is meeting its mission, goals, and student learning outcomes. Data from the assessment plan is analyzed at the end of the Spring semester and made available to faculty, students, and communities of interest.
